The workshops and retreats are held on 6½ acres of secluded waterfront property on Shaw Island , a small island in Washington 's San Juans. More than 650 feet of shoreline on a protected cove offer a variety of views of ever-changing water and sky and the mostly undeveloped Parks Bay .

Every day we are blessed with visitors: eagles, mink, river otters, osprey, turkey vultures, great blue herons, harbor seals, hummingbirds, crossbills, towhees, deer, raccoons, juncos, finches, nuthatches, hawks . the list could go on. The sounds of birds, of waves against the rocks, of wind through the trees are everyday occurrences that, mixed with the golden light of a setting sun or the full moon reflecting in the water, create a place of joy and inspiration.

The environment offers opportunities for reflection, solitude and sharing, whether walking through the woods, sitting on the shoreline, exploring at low tide or relaxing on the deck a stone's throw from the water.

"Thank you so much for the setting, food, natural beauty and comfy beds ."

Workshops will be held in a waterfront home situated on a small point with water on three sides. The floor-to-ceiling glass wall in the great room opens out to spectacular views of the shoreline and bay and lets in spirit-lifting light even on a gray day. The creative atmosphere is enhanced by a solarium that faces the water, cathedral ceilings, a loft lit with natural light and a masonry heater covered in river rock. A baby grand piano, guitars, a Korg keyboard and more than 1,000 CDs, books and magazines are available to workshop participants.

Participants will sleep in second-floor bunk beds with comfortable mattress. Bedding, towels and robes are provided. Take evening or morning soaks in the hot tub (swimsuit optional for women-only workshops). All meals, with emphasis on fruits and vegetables, and snacks will be provided. Beverages include coffees, teas, juices and water. Please tell us on the registration form if you are allergic to any foods (or bee stings).
